iPhone 18 is two calendars pretending to be one product line. The expensive phones — iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the foldable usually called iPhone Ultra — are expected at Apple’s 9 September 2026 event. The standard iPhone 18, the 18e, and a second-generation Air are widely rumored for spring 2027. If you are waiting for “the new iPhone” at $799, September is probably not your month.
None of this is on a product page yet. The event is. “Surprise and shine,” 10 a.m. PT, apple.com. Read iPhone 18 rumors as rumors. The iPhone Ultra piece covers the foldable. This one covers the slab phones.
The split lineup
MacRumors’ roundup, updated through late August, is the sober checklist: 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in September with the foldable; iPhone 18, 18e, and Air 2 later. Design on the Pro models is expected to look like 17 Pro — camera plateau, not a new shape. A deep red / “Dark Cherry” color keeps showing up. Price-hike chatter ($250–$300 on Pro) is chatter. Apple has not printed a number.
iPhone 18e is the budget sibling in the rumor table, 6.1-inch class, sharing parts with the standard 6.3-inch 18. Air 2 is a separate thin SKU, starting-price rumors around $999. If those spring phones slip further, nobody in Cupertino will email you. The Pro phones in September are the ones with a date attached to an invite.
A20, cameras, Island
The process rumor is TSMC N2. iPhone 18 and the foldable get A20; 18 Pro and Pro Max get A20 Pro. Supply-chain notes claim on the order of 15% faster and 30% more efficient versus the previous Pro chip. That is a slide, not a Geekbench. The in-house C2 modem is the other internal rumor, mixed in some notes with Qualcomm parts and mmWave questions. Modem rumors are historically the sloppiest. Do not buy a phone for a modem leak.

The smaller Dynamic Island / partial under-display Face ID rumor is the design nerd’s paragraph. It may ship as a slightly smaller pill. It may ship as marketing copy on the same pill. iPhone 18 rumors have been circling that drain since spring. Believe it when you see a photo Apple took.
What to do on 9 September
If you are on a 15 or older and the battery is the complaint, 18 Pro is the rumored September answer. If you are on a 17 Pro, wait for the keynote; a variable aperture and a new chip are not always an upgrade you feel. If you wanted cheap, look at spring or at last year’s leftover. iPhone 18 as a phrase will be used in ads for whatever is on stage. Read the actual model name.
Do not refresh rumor accounts during the keynote. Watch Apple. Then read the spec page. Then decide. The foldable, if it is called iPhone Ultra, is a different purchase — display and hinge, not camera. The Pro Max is still the camera-phone in this rumor set.
A new iPhone 18 does not require a new website. If you were about to “rebuild the site for mobile,” you needed responsive CSS last decade. Host it on web hosting that already serves phones. The phone is a client. The origin is still the origin.
After 9 September this iPhone 18 rumors page becomes a historical note. That is fine. The point of writing it on 1 September is so you do not confuse a leaker’s table with a store SKU. Eight days. Then we will have numbers with an ® on them.
Battery rumors for iPhone 18 Pro Max keep quoting 5,100–5,200 mAh. Capacity is not runtime. Silicon and the panel decide that. Treat milliamp-hour leaks as directional. Camera Control “pressure only” on the standard 18 is another rumor that may ship as a footnote. If Camera Control is why you upgrade, you are already on a 16 or 17 and you should watch the keynote, not a slide from a factory tour.
iOS 27 is expected to land with the Pro phones, as iOS always does in September. A spring iPhone 18 would ship into that OS, not into a new one named for the occasion. Software is not a reason to wait until March if the hardware you wanted is the Pro in September. It is a reason not to panic if the standard 18 is late.
For shops that buy a fleet, iPhone 18 rumors should not freeze procurement. Order last year’s Pro if staff phones are dying now. Refresh after street prices exist. A rumor of a $300 bump is not a PO. MDM, cases, and a spare pool matter more than a cherry colorway.
Websites will not need an “iPhone 18 edition.” If your layout breaks on a 6.3-inch slab, it already broke on a 17. Test on a current phone. Serve the site from a host that speaks HTTP/2 and HTTP/3, which ours does. Then go outside. The keynote is 90 minutes. Your origin still has to survive the weekend.
