Bandwidth / 95th Percentile Defined

Sustained Bandwidth and 95% Billing

Like most companies, LogicWeb calculates bandwidth for billing purposes on the basis of 95th-percentile usage. That is, we measure usage every five minutes, discard the highest 5% of the samples and bill on the highest remaining number. This means that a few uncharacteristically high usage spikes won't cause a dramatic billing increase.

The maximum possible bandwidth that a system can achieve after read latency is taken into account is called sustained bandwidth.

We calculate usage by the calendar month.

By default, colo customers have a 10mbps maximum for sustained throughput. If you anticipate a heavier load, please let us know so we can make special arrangements.
